Vidya District Centers, an ambitious venture of Vidya International Charitable Trust, started functioning in two districts – Thrissur and Alappuzha from 2006 & 2007. From 2009 onwards two more Vidya District centers started functioning at TVM & Kollam. Through Vidya centers we endeavor to transform our community and society from grass-root level, by making them aware of the importance of higher education, and assist them in achieving their educational and career goals thereby fulfilling our vision. During the year under review, 83 students in TCR, 39 students in Alappuzha, 11 students in Kollam and 12 students in Thiruvananthapuram are selected for two year entrance coaching.
Entrance Coaching at Alappuzha, Kollam & TVM centers is arranged in Collaboration with Tandem and master trainer Prof. P C Thomas in Thrissur District. The selection process is fully based on academic merits and social /economic status of their family. This scheme will be extended to all 14 districts of the state in phased manner.
Out of total 159 passed out students 70% were able to qualify in the entrance exam and more than 30% are studying for Engineering. Among them many enjoys Scholarships. All are pursuing higher education in various fields. We were able to give them proper guidance in selecting the courses.
